The Ravens are 3-1 to win the AFC North behind the Browns and the Steelers. They are 9-1 to go to the AFC Championship game and 2-1 to even make the playoffs. The win total on the season sits at 8 games and it can also be found at 8.5 so shop around—
If the Ravens have to show up at home this season, especially against the spread – since they were 1-6 ATS in the last 7 home games.
So what about Lamar? The Ravens are changing their offense. Baltimore promoted Greg Roman to offensive coordinator because he works well with mobile QB”s and they bring over Mark Ingram for New Orleans to boost that backfield, which already had some solid talent. From what I am reading it will include a lot of running and plenty of RPO (run-pass option) which seems to be the flavor of the week.
On defense they lost plenty of veterans that you know about like Suggs and Mosley, but they brought in Earl Thomas and still have an underrated core. But it’s based off potential and a lot of adjustments. It will be very difficult to duplicate what they did a year ago when they led the NFL in total defense and second in scoring defense. The loss of CJ Mosely means they will need a new communicator on defense and they lost a third of their sack production when Suggs and Smith (who led the Ravens in sacks) left. They will be very strong in the secondary but will have too many question marks up front on defense. This might be too tough for the Ravens too overcome this season.
With a new offense and an adjusting defense, this team will get plenty of challenges this season. When it comes to covering the spread, I don’t see them blowing anyone out and would not be surprised if the Dolphins keep the week 1 (4.5) point spread close.
In week 2 they are (-9.5) point favorites against the Cardinals and they are (-7) at home against the Bengals in Baltimore but the rest of the spreads are less than a TD…That points to close games and that could be difficult for a team that is relying on a compact offense (spread)
When it comes to the total wins for the Ravens I am going UNDER 8.5 wins on the season.
